I am an Integrative Counsellor with a person centred approach and additional specialist training in the use of arts in therapy and yoga based therapy for trauma and chronic stress. I work with young people from the beginning of their senior school years to twenty five years of age dealing with a wide range of challenges including GAD, anxiety, panic attacks, abuse, family issues, as well as low self esteem, confidence and the impacts of Neurodiversity inc Autism and ADHD as well as parents and those supporting young people.

As well as working with private clients I continue to work in Senior Schools with diverse populations. The young people I work with sometimes also have SEN requirements as well as experiencing mental health challenges so understanding different ways of processing and feeling comfortable in the sessions is important too.

Whilst sessions can sometimes consist just of talking, I offer art tools and yoga ( somatic) interventions in line with the needs of the client. Art tools can assist the client to bring and explore their feelings when they are hard to access or to talk directly about. Yoga based interventions, that is breath work, somatic awareness, movement and mindfulness are offered to regulate a dysregulated nervous system and support wellbeing. In my work, the relationship with the young person or adult is of paramount importance in allowing space to find authenticity and express whatever is being experienced in the safety of feeling it is heard without judgement.

My own children’s early experiences, SEN and educational challenges has made me passionate in the belief that every young person has inate talents, skills and potential and that supporting them to find a way forward through any of the challenges which they are faced with will underpin the rest of their lives. Private practice allows me to work with young people as a counsellor but also with parents/ carers to support them espcially when the young person may find it hard to accept support directly.
